i received a ricoh mp1350 missing both hard disks ( sata 160 gb )
i ordered 2 new disks but the machine doesn't recognize them ( sc860 )
formatting is no option ( failed )

looking for good tips

It's very difficult to get striped RAID pairs to work correctly without drives of matching pairs. It'd probably be a better idea to fit an OEM HDD pair, part number is B2346881. Apparently you have to order a cable with it due to a vendor change, that part number is G1786042. All as per RD101031a.

The hard drives in the model are set up with a RAID configuration at the factory that you cannot configure in the field. Ordering the OEM drives is going to be your only way to resolve the issue.

Remove them from the machine and format them by computer. Then put them in the machine.
Connect but not both at once. Connect only one and include the machine. If you come in ready-made back then format.
Off the machine and plug second HDD and re-done format the two together.
I had this problem and solve.
