Re: sc221
The manual tells you to clear the Lens Positioning Motor setting for CMY BEFORE you replace the Laser Unit. After you have replaced the unit, you should input the values on the sheet, and do all other necessary adjustments.Comment

Re: sc221
Once I damaged the harness between laser unit<->BICU/IPU.. after trying swinging away the controller-box (at least I think it was a MPC4500 in that case). The wires are quite short IIRC, that's why they can get too much tension if you move away the controller. IT's also possible that the issue occures later in case that a cable got only pre-damaged. If you're lucky it's just an improper connection to the laser unit connectors (or the other ends). Worst case is a broken harness. I assume the laser-wise conenctors are not the issue since another laser unit has already been tested.Comment

Re: sc221
Had this a while back, SC221 at bootup..... not a good time.
Turned out...... believe it or not.... to be the NVRAM on the BICU board.
Had already tried everything else, new laser unit, IPU Board, GW board, PSU etc etc
Word of advice, make sure that the "birth certificate" is with the machine (usually under the jam removal instructions on the front door) before you do anything with the NVRAM as you are going to have to re-input everything that isn't default.
The machine will be in Japanese when you boot it up so make a note of the SP mode to specify the country before changing the NVRAM and you'll have to re-input the serial number (as you'll get a code to tell you that there's a mismatch between the serial number on the BICU and GW NVRAMs)
Weird, but sorted out my machine.Comment
