Re: Scan to email on Aficio 2000

The Aficio MP2000 doesn't support SSL, so scanning to the Gmail SMTP-server isn't possible. Just put in the SMTP-server adress (IP-adress or Hostname) and the the Administrator Email adress. In User Tools - System Settings - File Transfer set the administrator email adress as recipient email adress. If Lavabit.com uses SSL or some other encrypted connection, you can't use that because this machine doesn't support it.

If you have no access to an SMTP server without encryption then the only option I know of is to use a gmail account and install Stunnel per instructions attached, that will allow the mail to flow. It does works great, but do keep in mind that the PC with stunnel installed must be "on" and also have a static IP

You can download from here: stunnel: stunnel - multiplatform SSL tunneling proxy
Installation instructions for use with Gmail here:Stunnel - GMAIL Setup.pdf

P.S. Be sure to turn off Reception, and turn off Max. email size, or at least crank it up, or you'll have nothing but grief

As I read through your post again, I had a couple of questions. I'm not familiar with lavabit, so does it use 'SSL' or 'TLS'? if not, then it should work.
But I'm sure it must require authentication, so you probably need to turn that on and enter the email password. Also, have you entered the proper DNS, and gateway on the copier?

now when you said :"the only option I know of is to use a gmail account and install Stunnel" what about on companies that do not have they own server?? (I'm in the border with mexico and the fowarding companies require to scan at 300DPI)

"Also, have you entered the proper DNS, and gateway on the copier?"

I might sound silly, but the machine is printing so I’m on the network (is that what you are refering to?)

do you any other email account with out the SSL or TSL??

            Thanxx for the guidance
            I did a little research.
Lavabit uses encryption, so it won't work for sure.
You don't need a 'Server', you just need to designate a PC to 'act' as a server, and set a static IP to it, and leave it on. Printing , Scanning to folder etc. is possible without setting the proper DNS, but for scan to email, it's a MUST

Re: Scan to email on Aficio 2000

I just set up a yahoo.com address successfully. No encryption needed
Again, make sure you have the proper DNS, gateway, etc. input into the copier interface settings first.
              Setup a Yahoo.com address.
Then just input the following info and it should work:

Administrators email Address: (whatever you want)

              Reception

              Reception Protocol : POP3
              E-mail Reception Interval : OFF
              Max. Reception E-mail Size : 2 MB
E-mail Storage in Server : Off

              SMTP

              SMTP Server Name : 98.136.185.95
              SMTP Port No. : 587
              SMTP Authentication : ON
              SMTP Auth. E-mail Address:
              yourmail@yahoo.com
SMTP auth username: (your yahoo user info)
SMTP Auth. Password: change (enter your email password)

SMTP Auth. Encryption : Auto Select

On the Copier. Go to user tools - system settings - file transfer - auto specify senders name- turn on (this will use the administrator email you programmed above as the sender)
Go to the address book and program the Name and enter desired email addresses

Works for me on an identical machine.
              Good luck

I know there are some options I can change before I send anemail, but is there a way this could be set up and be fix so the costumers willnot have to deal with this every time they scan (changing these options)?
