    Re: SD Card specs

Are most of you are aware of the RTB RGene047? It mentions what models can use 128 MB cards and those that can use up to 1GB cards.

Can't upload the PDF at the moment but a quick copy and paste might give you an idea.

Change: A 1GB SD card was newly registered.

Reason: So that multiple firmware modules can be stored onto one SD card.

Support matrix: SD cards (sizes) x product categories

    SD card size Product category

    ***********Category 1 Category 2
    Up to 128MB Supported Supported
Up to 1GB Supported Not supported

    Note:
z See the next page of this RTB for a list of the models in each product category.
z There are now two SD cards available as service parts: the existing 128MB card and
    the new 1GB card.
z The new 1GB SD card is produced by Panasonic, and has a speed class of 6.
z Commercially available (non-service parts) SD cards are not supported.

Pretty sure you can find the right ones listed in parts manuals or bulletins. Sometimes that price premium is worth it to know that it works without jumping through hoops.

Easy there fella, Don't even think of crossing over to the dark side!

Good idea Hemlock. I checked a couple of recent models (mpc305 and MP4002) and they list B645-5010 which is an OLD number so it must be a 64M,

Do you have a number for the newer cards

Try ordering one of the even though its an old number. Ricoh has changed the part number on things because they changed the manufacture location or sub-vendor, and the techs would have never been able to tell the difference other than it was listed in the bulletin, but they've also shipped substitute parts based on what was available - if they can't get the 64M cards anymore they will ship whatever they are getting. If they did change the part number it will show the new number.

I am a Sony 2 GB SD Card, but when i put it in C3 and turn the copier on,nothing happens.
I tried to format in FAT and Fat32,but copier reacts normally without poping an update windows as SM says.
I just droped files in sd card.
                What can i do???

I called the parts dept and they didnt have a capacity and said I'd have to call TechServices for that info. Lets me out.
They did say it was $92.00. Thats a little steep for "try ordering one..."
I think I have enough 128s to last for a while.

hi there,if this machine has printer/scanner SD card in you can use that for firmware upgrade, take it out,cut and paste the files from it to to your computer somewhere on desktop,

Now make a (Romdata) folder, then folder with machine code Like (B164) or whatever is mentioned in SM or back cover on the machine, paste the firmware files in this folder, use service slot 3 or in some models contain 2 slot, turn the device on it'll surely load the Firmware files.

when you done take it out delete the firmware files and paste back the Printer/scanner files.job done,
This is what i did when last time i had to do the firmware upgrade and 2Gb Kingston didn't work with Nashuatec DSM735.

be careful not to loose the printer/scanner files,

                      Greetings

I think I may have snagged the SD card out of the TCRU kit on my C900 to use for firmware updates.

Just pulled this out of the C901 parts manual - M077 6008 SD-Card: ZoffyV4: DOM/EXP: Ass'Y. Looks like it's out of the print control section, so it's probably the piece that allows printing/scanning in the absence of a Fiery controller. Farther back, in the special tools section, it lists the same SD card you found in the older models.

From the help desk database, I found that 2 gigs is the max (must be Fat16, not 32 or NTFS).

Right now it looks like paulg is our best source of info.

All the new machines come with data encryption cards, not many of our clients want that option or even know about it, so we just format them and use them.
