    mpc 2050 drum mod

so today i was playing around with a mpc 2050 pcu....

discovered that with very little time you can mod a B039-9510 drum in place instead of replacing the whole unit....anybody try this yet?

no - I don't know the price of the PCU but it might be interesting. Still replacing just the drum might lead to other issues if there are no replacement parts for at least the cleaning blade.

Agreed. I don't know what the benefit of this is. CQ issues are definitely going to increase, and new PCU's just aren't that expensive anyway, and everything is NEW - not just the drum.

If you want to save money don't replace the drum unit at 60K copies.
From my own experience you get no quality problems. Even 500K are no problem, if you clean the charge roller bearing to prevent noise.

          500k - shure....

I know that the charge roller lasts long and is easy to clean but the cleaning blade needs to be replaced way more often. One thing is that the cleaning blade material starts to harden over time so the cleaning performance is not proper. Another issue is that the surface of the cleaning blade wears out over time, especially if the cleaning blade has no shifting-feature.

Agreed....rule of thumb has always been that if the blade is yellowed turf it out.

I haven't tried it on this model (yet) but on other models i let those yellow blades ride until there are cq issues and have seen them last many times what they r rated in both ricoh and sharp machines. How many times have you taken out a yellow blade that was working perfectly fine? save the earth bros...

if its yellow keep it mellow if its brown flush it down

You are able to swap out the drums alone with out replacing the whole unit however this is only adviced to do if the drum is what's making a quality issues i have work on a few machine similar to this on

yes thats what im refering to is if you are getting drum marks not charge lines instead of replacing whole pcu for a drum tick you can use the 2020 pcu.....
