    SP3400 Series Firmware Flash (ugh!)

Has anyone actually successfully flashed this little beast with a network connection?

The USB method always works, but that's not practical for us as we have a boatload of these things to update.

We always get error messages, such as "Machine Not Ready", "Wrong Version", or if it does actually connect, the upload fails. Even a crossover isn't always reliable; it works about half the time.

I realize that this is not a Ricoh controller, so a lot of the same rules (and utilities), don't apply.

    Many Thanks!

It's nice to know I'm not the only one that has trouble using the web interface to update firmware on those, although we sell them as Xerox or rebranded Samsung. I can do one ok, but if I try a second it will let me select the file to upload and then just hang after that and never show the confirmation box. I've tried IE and firefox, disabling pop-up blocker, etc..I think it has to do with saved passwords or security certificates, seems clearing the browser history and rebooting and then I can do another. Not a very practical way to do a whole fleet though. I have had better luck using firefox, (meaning less reboots) and just clearing history or use private browsing, but still isn't 100%. If you find a solution please post back!!

The only reason I've had firmware updates fail on these is when they're in low power standby. Are you using the firmware update package .exe thingy?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

We got past the lower power thing right away, as that's well documented.

We have tried several version of the update tool, no banana.

I think we also tried SOM, but to no avail.

Are you flashing with a crossover or across the network? The idea being researched right now is delays in the customer's network, based on the data we saw in packet captures.

Curious. I didn't think there was a web method. If there is, I can't find it. Maybe it's not on the Ricohs.

        Thanks,
