120 Day old MP 201. Making loud poping noise. my guess is fuser gear is slipping. Removed the PCU and found some gray plastic shavings. The only grey gear I found was on the PCU I have not tried to remove the fuser as of yet. Any ideas? And its not the PCU I changed it out.

Re: Ricoh MP 201
I agree, replace transfer charge roller. Problem solved. Sometimes you need a magnifying glass to see the crack in its bushing. Normally also have print quality issues at the same time as this. I have only ever seen them crack on the drive side.I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. ~Thomas EdisonComment

Re: Ricoh MP 201
+1 on the transfer roller.
I also remove the spring screwed to the upper front corner of the right cover. It's supposed to pop the door open for you once you pull the latch, but c'mon... there's enough other junk in there to pop it open, and in really ain't that hard to begin with. All it does is stress the latch and eventually break it.73 DE W5SSJComment

Re: Ricoh MP 201
Thanks to both of you. It appears to be one of 2 things. 1)The transfer roller is not being pushed hard enough
to the PCU drive gear. If you push against the side door noise goes away. If there is a crack in the TR bush. I couldn't see it. I pulled out the main spring so as to provide more push and that seems to work.
which brings me to another question. the 2 springs that push out the TR are very different. the one on the drive side is much heaver which makes sense but just hought I'd ask. 2) (Please forgive the lack of technical talk on this part in particular) When you replace the TR you then tilt it down and it locks on a clip that clip (on the drive side) appears to not stickout far enough to lock it down secure enough.
Once again just thought I mention this.Comment

Re: Ricoh MP 201
It's not the Transfer bushings or mounts that crack, its the latch, or latch mounts that crack from too much spring pressure. Remove the spring before it fails and you save yourself a lot of trouble73 DE W5SSJComment
