ricoh 2060 not recognising adobe acrobat x pro

i have a customer who is trying to use the latest adobe reader which is acrobat x pro. the basic fine reader is being picked up but the latest one isnt. he also has a mpc4500 that picks up x pro ok.

i have updated all the firmware on the machine with no luck.

the IT says he can only find one twain driver for scanning on the ricoh website and that driver is from 1997. he seems to think that it may need a newer driver. but he just cant find one.

customer is getting very desperate to use x pro because of PDF A.

    i would appreciate any help

I'm really confused. You say Adobe X Pro won't open a PDF sent from the machine to a folder?
Are you using Network Twain rather than SMB or FTP ? and why?

To me a PDF is a PDF no matter what/who created it. Am I wrong?

Can't they just scan to email and open the attachment that way? It comes over in PDF unless you set it to something else. Also if you are scanning to folder make sure the machine is sending the file in PDF and not TIFF or something else.

I know there is a problem with twain scan if the user authentication is turned on.
The user authentication block all ports/applications. But there is no way to use twain if its turned on..even if you authenticate yourself.

I agree with all other posts...use scan to folder/mail.
one customer said, the twain can convert some special formats while scanning...dont know more facts. twain is very old

i think what the customer meant was, the software isnt communcating with the machine at all.

If that's the case, there is ZERO software required for scan to folder or email in PDF format. So you don't have a machine issue, but a technical configuration issue.

OOPS! correction.... I forgot how old this box was, and don't believe it does actually support 'scan to folder

Twain is really old, scanrouter may work but your best bet is if it is hooked to the network, set it up to send to email

Ah yes! I forgot that this was an older box and probably only capable of Scanrouter scanning and scan to folder (but I'm not 100% sure)
Although, The issue still remains a configuration issue as it has absolutely nothing to do with the Adobe, but as has been stated here 1000 times before, Scanrouter is Long out-dated, quirky, and not supported under the newer OS's.
Email is really the only solution here for sure.

2060 does have the Scan to Folder(SMB) function where 1060 doesn't, Your best bet is the Set it Scan to Folder or Scan to E-mail. Cheers

                    Hi
I am the person who has this problem, i will try to describe it

the problem only occurs within adobe acrobat

what i really need is to be able to use acrobat x pro to scan & ocr read then save as pdf/A

I have a ricoh 2060 & an xp sp3 machine, when using abbey fine reader my jobs scan using the 2075 twain driver from the ricoh site dated 2007, but limitations within abbey. means abbey is not a suitable package.

I need to be able to scan using the adobe software , but everytime i select the 2075 twain driver within the adobe scan settings the package just crashes.

i have even gone as far as installing win 7 & adobe on a different machine & trying this & it still has the same result.

scan to folder does work fine , but is not a suitable solution, scan to email is not an option for us

                    cheers
