    MPC2800 Uneven Image Density

The Copies and Prints are coming out faint towards the front of the machine (looks like damp paper but not)

I have replaced all Devs and Transfer Roller and Image transfer unit assembly and checked the laser mirrors.
Baring a Call to ricoh tech (wich 9/10 times dosnt actually help anyway)

I Decided to do a google search and this place came up

    So as anyone any Ideas?

there are threads about this problem, one reason for this is the shutter on the laser unit. remove the shutter run then test the machine.

That would be great but the MPC2800 dosnt have the MPC2000/2500 laser unit and it therefore dosnt have a Shutter Cover :/

sorry I forgot, I remember MPC4000 has no shutter also. If you are sure that you have checked and cleaned the laser unit, then it is time to check the ITB unit( rollers,etc.).Sometimes the image transfer roller is out of position.

Yes all colours are faded Ricoh UK tech just called and said to check the paper transfer roller housing isnt cracked causing the problem.

You can also try interrupting the printjob and see if the image loooks even or uneven on the drums/transferbelt - if you see the issue there, it's most likely something laser-unit-related. If everything looks fine there you might follow the hint you got from that ricoh guy.

Anyway, now that I've finished being childish and somewhat vengeful (for now anyway,) do you get fading along the bottom when you print a colour test chart out from Printer SP?

Fixed it turns out somehow the big springs in the paper transfer roller the front one the puts pressure on the roller had come out of position.

The transfer rollers on the MPc2800 type machines are nowhere near as sturdy or reliable as the MPc4500 type, what with that crappy hook to hold it in and dreadful spring mechanism.

There are times when I wonder whether Ricoh's designers are a bit simple.
