    MPC4502/55025502 Fax not working

    I need to find out whether any of you guys had issues on the new MPC4502/5502 machines when the fax option is installed.
    At installation after activating the fax option icon for the home screen you can select the fax, but it with no rx and no tx.
    Not all the machines are having this issue, this is only my 4th one in 3 weeks. I have tested the line with a working machine
    and all is working fine, I can send and recieve faxes, buton the faulty ones I don't even get a dialling tone when I press on hook dial.

    Any suggestions or feedback welcome

      Did you try to swap the fax board with a working machine? It would be nice to know if it is a fax board problem or a machine problem...

          I did swap the fax board and put it on to a working machine and still have the same issue. The fax board is defintely faulty.
          Am I the only one that has this problem?

              Never installed one of those with fax board so far. Anyway, being the problem with the fax board, the only think I can think of besides returning it to Ricoh, would be to try to flash the fax firmware.

                  Make sure the Line 1 and Tel are not switched. Don't ask how I know.

                      You also might tweak the cable - only the two middle wires in the RJ11 connector needs to be connected with the plug of the other end of the line chord.

                              the same fax line was used on a working MPC5502. If I put the faulty board in the working machine the same thing happens and if i put the faxboard that was in the working machine and put it in the faulty machine all is working fine.

                              This whole thread is to find out whether there is any other people having the same issue

                                      100% Faulty Board bag it and tag it. (Unless youve fitted the wrong one)

                                      Nope never fitted one to a 4502 either

                                          Have a close look on the board - you should see a tiny on-board switch. It should be in position "OFF" as I remember (and I am not talking about jumper-switch on a fax board). THere is another one which is realated to the fax. Lot's of times techs confused by this switch but just remember it has to be OFF to operate fax normally on "02" Ricoh series. Good luck!

                                              rj11 conncection for the line is faulty. Its a common problem at the moment. Had one the other day, swapped the boards over still no line detected. spoke to ricoh tech who said there having a few problems with the rj11 connector wires not making contact.

                                                  Sorry for the late response but "Ricoh France" has communicated with the technician any information about a default the RJ11 connector

                                                      Thank you all for replying. I did get the file from Ricoh Europe as well. It was indeed the fax harnes to the RJ11 connection that was faulty
