It's in there, but you were probably looking at the B064 section. The B140/B246/D052 is further down in the manual, which has this.....

220 Laser synchronization detection error

The 1st laser synchronization detection
unit could not detect the line
synchronization signal (DETP0) within
500 ms while the polygon mirror motor
was operating at normal speed.

NOTE: The unit polls for the signal
every 50 ms. This SC is issued after the
10th attempt fails to detect the signal.

It's usually the laser sync detector board (accessed from the right hand side of the machine, above the bypass behind 2 fans above the dev unit) or the laser diode unit, or the polygon mirror motor. I've had all three, unfortunately.

Replace laser diode from aficio 1060 to mp 5500 6500...
