    Scan to email solution Gestetner

I was trying to find a solution for a scan to email thru SSl encryption
for older machines that do not work with SSL, after few days of searching
I found very easy solution so I just wanted to share my experience with everybody

    1.create gmail account
2.use aspmx.l.google.com in your server name
    3.use port 25
4.use your gmail user name and password
    5.done...

    enjoy!

If it's working for you that's great, but it doesn't work here for me - either on the machine, OR when I use aspmx.I.google.com server name in MS Outlook instead of the usual smtp.gmail.com.

Guess I'll still be using Stunnel as my Gmail workaround, or use a Yahoo account which doesn't require SSL

If I recall correctly, you can only scan to people at gmail.com - nowhere else.

Unless that has changed, and while it would have it's place, it's a pretty limited solution.

Server name should be on the machine, like KenB said only gmail to gmail for now...but it's very easy to open couple of gmail accounts...
something like printerserver@gmail.com then setup one on the machine and one in your outlook program....
after scanning your documents you will receive the scan in your outlook or any mail program, yahoo does not work with outlook for sending...
        only for receiving...gmail does...

The "auto configure" in MS Outlook sets the SMTP port to 25, which doesn't allow sending, but if you change it to 587, YAHOO sends and receives flawlessly -at least in my case

I've used this at a few small accounts by setting up a few gmail accounts & forwarding them to their actual email address. I wonder how many emails have built up on gmail. I seriously doubt they ever check it, even though I told them it may create a problem down the road.
