Have had three of these in a week all with around 150-180K on the clock tear the ITB at the back of the machine. Must be a bit of a common problem as the ITB's are now on back order here. I believe the ITB cleaner is capable of 200K before replacement but I think the cleaner fails early and ruins the belt. Any other techs having this issue?

Very common problem. ITB failure around 200k (and I work on heaps of these). All in all a quite reliable mc - just need to keep a itb on hand (we use the printer kit version). -

You and I are very close in our work areas and I imagine we use the same service center, have you been claiming the belts under warranty?I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work. ~Thomas EdisonComment

Re: MPC4501 ITB failure
Well I had 2 in stock and used them both in 2 days, now I am waiting for a back order of them. Does the printer version require any mods? I may need to try and order one if they are available.

On the printer version, you just need to swap the top covers as the tabs are in different places. You can change the handles if you want the blue color, idf not, they can live with green.Comment

Re: MPC4501 ITB failure
I carry a replacement belt, fits all the Apollons and Athenas as far as I know. Part number is B223 6036.It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.
