Scanning a 100 page doc as a single page tiff.

Back ground to customers issue. My customer wants to scan a 100 page doc and save it as 100 tiff. files on a folder on the network. The issue is that the copier "Ricoh MP5001spf" as to scan the 100 pages 1st into the hard drive and after it finishes scanning then it starts to send the files to the folder. He would like it to start scanning the 100 pages and for the copier to start sending the files as its scanning.

Does anyone know of a way to do this?

Im thinking that there as to be a thresh hold setting somewhere as to how much memory is held before it starts to send the files.

Seriously? The client is that impatient? This whole process takes what 2- 3 minutes at most? I don't know if there's a solution, but I wouldn't even be looking into it if it were me.

Some customers need to shut the hell up. I too am unaware of a solution to this non-problem.

The thing is that it's scanning to a hot folder. Meaning that folder is monitored for files then imported into some program. It polls the folder every 30 secs. So now it turns into 2-3 mins scanning then 30-60 secs transmitting then 30 secs to poll then 1-2 mins to process the 100 files. So a 2-3 min scan turns into a 5-7 min deal. It slows them down a bit. The only thing I can think of is some kind of trech hold setting as to how much is stored on the hard drive before it starts to send to folder.

I'm still going with "No" and, just maybe, "Not my problem."Seriously, I have nothing on this one. In the words of the great Robert De Niro, this is this.

Sounds to me more like an issue with the timing threshold of the software monitoring the folder. You'll probably get more milage out of having the client tweak that than chasing a dead end on the copier side.

I'd also say that there is no chance to change this behaviour. I also don't see that ricoh claims that this might work the way in theire service and end-user docs. Maybe they can program a custom firmware if the customer put's a bag of money on the table - otherwise I don't see a chance here.

The solution is buy a $100,000 production scanner (many brands but Kodak sticks out) and a $25,000 software package. The two will do whatever they want it to.

Buy what they actually need to do a job properly? Yeah, like that'll ever happen, how many people buy MPc300s to do 5000 colour prints per month?I admire your optimism though.

Tell the customer to scan ten in at a time. Not good at maths but wouldn't it give the hot folder something to do while the customer is scanning the second batch of 10.

this is a quick solution to scan doc to tiff. and then you can combine tiff into one big image. i haven't tested this yet, but i do hope it will help you solve this problem.
                              good luck.
