    MPc 5502 colour reg

    Good afternoon all

Up to my knees in poo as usual, so I need your help.
I have a brand spanking new MPC5502 out there, under 5k on the clock and it keeps losing its colour registration. Yesterday I had to go into service mode to get it to respond, as the user line reg was failing. Today it has gone out again, but the customer managed to get it back in using the operator line reg adjustment. Has anyone else had any similar issues with these boxes from new? As I say, it's a brand new machine, so wear and tear shouldn't be an issue

Many thanks in advance, have a good day all

Take a look at the line positioning result to see the result. Don't know the exact SP-no. Maybe one of the colors gives an error.

      Re: MPc 5502 colour reg

If i remember correctly this thread is on from last weak or so,and Eric is so right on this as always, most of time (line position Adjustment).
first rough and then (fine line position adj) in sp mode did the trick for me for many color registration problems,or cross check the values with data sheet for factory setting provided with this machine.

as you mentioned machine is @ 5K so less chances for bad (ITB) ,Last shot could be a bad NVRAM loosing values,

      good luck.

SP2111-003 completes Forced Line Position Adjustment (course) and SP2111-001 does the fine Line Position Adjustment; they must be done in that order. The results can be checked with SP194-007 (0 - completed sucessfully, and 1 - Failed). SP194-010-011-012 show the results for M, C and Y (0:Not done; 1:Completed sucessfully; 2:Cannot detect patterns; 3:Fewer lines on the pattern than the target; 4:Not used; 5:Out of the adjustment range; 6 to 9:Not used). What I would do first is run the Auto Colour Calibration Page from User Tools (or your Colour T.T.) and make sure that all 4 colours CMY&K are good. If one is off then you know what path to start down to resolve this problem.

We had one (4501?) doing this from new, would set up in coarse / fine mode ok then drop a few days later. Consulted Ricoh Technical who said they had seen one other machine with the same issue. Swapped the ITB under warranty and I believe the problem was cured.
Possibly poor transfer on one colour? would cause line position issues? May be worth trying various halftone test patterns in single colours to see if there is uneven image.

It wasn't on this model I had this issue but an MPC6000 that would keep losing registration, turned out to be the NVRAM.

I'm guilty, I seem be having colour reg issues left, right and centre at the moment.
My previous post on the 3501, well that problem popped up again, but I think I got that one sorted now.
Bit of a bodge job, but it's holding

Hi thanks everyone for your ideas. I have ordered the ID sensor as a precation, but it's on back order at the moment. I'll go and give these suggestions a shot whilst I'm waiting for them to arrive.
I seem to be having lots of issues with colour reg on new machines at the moment, not sure what Ricoh are playing at. lol

Thanks again, will let you know what happens

                        Re: MPc 5502 colour reg

Had a report from one of our guys today of an MPC5502 doing the same, missed 7 checks in about 120. Not sure if this is over the whole life (about 5 weeks) or just very recently, the customer has been resetting reg in user tools but this time it didn't work.

This machine was set up at our office before install. I wonder if packing was removed and something in the ITB has shifted during transit causing poor transfer bias or similar?? It would be interesting to know if halftone test patterns are poor on one colour. Were other machines in this post precommissioned or set up on site?

Will monitor and report when we know more.

Im having the same issue on a new c4501. been though all the music adjustments mode a,b,c and it works, then a couple of days later back again. the customer is doing the user reg adj mode as and when. I think I will need the unit like some other on here.

Sound's like it's another bad series like (MP 4000 or 5000 with CQ Issue)don't you think it's time for Ricoh to have a TB on this? You better involve them, just a thought good luck!

I may just give them a call to see if the have any info, but it's really starting to looking to me as if there's either a software issue or a bad batch of ITB's, ID's sensor or something of the like.....
