Richo MP C2500 SMB Scanning problem

    Richo SMB problem,

    Hi,

I have a copier which can not scan to a 2003 server, using smb.

I can view the network and connect to the share (\\server\share) and setup the destination on the copier ok. But it will not send the file, it allways sit's waiting until it errors, I have checked the folder permissions and security settings on the network, no interneal firewall or software on the server that sould block the copier.

I think it is down to there server as I have scanned to my laptop running 2003 server ok, via a crossover cable.

I set it up to scan to one of the XP clients on the domain as a temp messure, but this has now started to do the same on the clients pc.

    Anyone had this?

The I T staff can't see any problem there end.

I had a weird one like this the other week where the MPC sat there saying 'waiting...' while a print job was spooling.
If you watched the print spool on the server you could see it was only spooling at around 128Kb/sec and it would pause for long periods of time.
Scanning to SMB and email was also very sluggish and intermittenly timing out.

I did prove it was some kind of issue with the customers network in the end
by plugging the MFD into a completely separate network segment and server.
As soon as I did that spooling speeds increased dramatically to roughly 1Mb/sec with no pausing occuring at all.

But also check the connection speed in the NIB summary report as connecting at 10mbit half duplex causes the same kind of issues.

And try replacing the NetBIOS server name with the I.P (e.g \\192.168.0.1\share) as I've seen some long pauses while it tries to resolve the name to I.P.

    Good luck.

I wouldn't disable digital signing on the server, I would just do a firmware update on the Machine, If you install the latest firmware that error will go away.

Ran into this with just scan to email.
Assign a certificate to the machine and install that certificate on the server.
Name it the company name with c2500.
Give it a 10 year license.
              Install certificate on server.
He has certificate set on his server.
              Default is not required.
It is always worth a try.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Updated the firmware on the scanner, it now scan's ok to the server.
