    Ricoh 3245C K-Air pump question

How much air is this pump supposed to give?

I have a toner almost empty, regardless of a brand new toner cartridge problem.

I have replaced the dev unit, so this is not a problem.
I have checked to see if toner is getting out of the hopper, it is.

I have checked to see if air comes out of the hose at the bottom of the hopper, there does, but not a great deal.

All I can think of next is the toner attraction pump, could this really be the item that needs changing?

    hope you guys can help.

Toner add clutch will give a no toner indicator and tend to go out on this machine. If you have a pile of toner on the back of the DV it is the clutch. It is easier to replace with 2 people one in front and one in back of the machine.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

What exactly is the clutch?? Is that the toner attraction pump? The thing sticking out on the inside of the machine right above the developer unit??

Your are correct will need to start in back of copier there are a lot of things to be remove to get to clutch so you can pull it out through the front. Plan to be there for a while. Make sure you get part first.

Google B180-3356. Buy the cheapest and swap the coils. First time took 2 of us 2 hours. Now we can do it in 45 minutes with cleaning. Practice, practice, practice. Order 2 . These go out a lot.

Ok, then I was right in my assumptions before then.

Just too bad this is such an expensive part. new part is almost $300, recycled part is $49 plus $100 shipping to Denmark.
If I buy here in Denmark, they are even more expensive, +$300

I'll keep on looking, it must be possible to find them somewhere at a fair price from new.

just a word of a warning... before you go to change expensive toner pump, make sure, that the waste toner pipes at the inner backside of the mashine are not clogged and the screw conveyors inside of them are working well. In any case, hose them out. Clogged waste toner will trigger a low or out of toner condition, so look carefully before ordering expensive parts

If there is a pile of toner at the back of the DV unit, it goes to say that the hose is clear and working. If you don't have a pile, clear the hose.

How about the fact that the air pump pumps alot.
Could it still be the toner attraction pump, or could the hoses still be blocked?

i just wrote a few words about this problem this toner loading system is a joke first toner supply(sucking ) clutch the one that connects with a dev unit then the air pump behind color toner hopper there is two of those also it might be your dev unit itself but when you manually add toner to the black dev unit and then machine goes to ready condition and will copy and print then you know that toner delivery has failedwhat else can i say to replace the toner motor - clutch i have done it 3 times

What is it in the toner attraction pump that breaks, is it the electronic parts of it i.e a coil or something??

Cause if I'm gonna find a replacement for the whole item, then it will quickly cost me almost $400 here in Denmark, which is a lot, when I only paid $200 for the entire copier.

it is easier to buy another unit that works
but understanding the problem is another
in my opinion the clutch could be slipping
or there is an air leak and it is turning but not have
enough sucking power , or it is clogged
if you take it apart you will see that the design
resemble the toner recycling unit from aficio 551 or 650
model located in the back of a copier
ratio between how much air is pumped and how many revolution
the clutch is making and then the issue with ambient temperature
and humidity that will cause toner to clump or harden if you like

My experience with that issue the clutch does not fix you have too replace the whole toner pump assy it comes with hose and coil also a new clutch pump with the worn out rubber piece of _______ that causes the failer. The clutch on back is probably still good so save it incase you have a failer on another toner pump.
The disecting of the rear of the machine to acess the two pin connector is not for the faint of heart. Go with a second person so you can try too spring hook the connector and plug in with your fingers if you do not want too take everything off in the rear. Coming out is easy its reconnecting that is the bear when you have new pump assy. FYI I would not use a used pump off a stripper cause it probably has the same worn out rubber plunger and you will be doing this job twice i have made that mistake. Also i may add you do have too take the boards fan and the connectors out of the way to acess the hole were you remove the developer drive clutch assy so you can see the connector. I lay everything out the way i take it off so i dont mix it up.
                              GOOD LUCK
