    Resolution

Strange as it may seem. Ricoh engineer visited the site and went through all the troubleshooting steps that I had tried previously with no positive results (including HDD replacement). He finally tried everything he could think of even though apparently unrelated to the web interface. One of the things he attempted was removal of the fax board. Success! And it is consistent. Putting back the fax board resulted in the same error behavior in the ADD USER function of the WIM, taking it out clears the error. The fax option was functioning perfectly with no errors and is the correct fax option for the machine. How this would cause the error behavior is unknown. The script for the web interface resides on the controller board so maybe the fax board has some error on it that allows it to function but causes the WIM error? Who knows. They are going to attempt replacement of the fax board (the customer requires it) and we hope that the error won't return with the new fax option installed.

Had a similar fault when coping and old address book to the lastest MP 3501-2 machines.

    Back up the address book.
Reinitialise and Clear the address book.
    From memory SP 5846-47 ?

Reinstall the address book via manual entry for testing, then update as usual.

Did you try Smart Device Monitor for Admin? No need to get crazy with the server version (unless you have it up and running, of course). That may help isolate things a bit, and offer a very usable workaround in the process.

You might try reloading the WEBSYS firmware again. That is specifically for the WIM.

Tried IE 6,7,8...Google Chrome, Firefox 13,14 and Opera. Same results.

Thanks for the info. WIM IS accessible, however. The only functionality (as far as I see) is the Add User page in the address book throwing up a blank web page. Exceedingly strange.

Yes. First thing I tried. Functionality was still not there.

NCS clear was done several times. No luck.

5801-11, 5801-10,-15. reinitialized all memory. Nothing seems to work. The hardware guys asked me not to do an NVRAM reset for the reasons you covered above. If nothing else works, one of the techs with have to give it a shot. Customer has off-site IT and this functionality is required so we'll have to do something. NVRAM reset is probably our last shot.

Will post the solution (if there is one)

The one thing I haven't done yet. I believe this brings the MFP back to factory defaults, correct? (Don't normally do this, I'm on the IT, connectivity side). Ricoh tech suggested replacing the HDD although I find highly unlikely this will have any affect. Doing that today and, if not effective, I will try the NVRAM clear. Thanks.
