AFicio MP6500 add paper in LCT only

We have an MP6500 that continues to say add paper for the LCT. We have replaced the LCT, the paper feed control board, the BICU and the wire harness for the LCT. If you put paper in the left side of the LCT and close the drawer, the paper moves to the right, the tray lifts it up into place like it is supposed to and then it just sits there saying add paper. Looked at Gooses guide and the service manual troubleshooting section. Any clues??

The problem is in the feed assy. When the paper rises, it contacts the pickup roller which lifts and passes a flag thru a photo interrupter to determine proper height.. Also there is another flag that drops thru a cutout on the bottom of the lift tray if no paper is present when it reaches the top. One of the components is broken or out of position. Pull the assy to check it.

Thanks for the info teebee1234, however, I just noticed that I neglected to mention in my original post that the paper feed unit was the first thing we replaced.

I should have guessed it couldn't have been that easy. Any particulars on when the problem occurred (after loading paper, clearing jam?). I guess the next step would be to do a sensor input check to determine if the change in state is being registered by the machine. Also check the screws that attach the center and right rails to the frame. If loose, that can cause a connection problem between the tray and the rear connector. Used to be a big problem on the 1075, not so much on this model though.

Replaced the wire harness from the back of the LCT drawers to the paper feed control board and it works, thanks for the info.
