I don't suppose that you could attach a scanned sample?

try this... close the ARDF, put your hand on the back left corner of the ARFD and push down. take your hand of then take a copy.

I had a colour c4500 (pretty much the same DF do this to me, we found that because they had decided to put the machine under some selfs, put a very slight twist on the hinge. you can see it but it adds pressure to the mechanism that lifts the DF when taking "bookcopys". so when opening and closing the df, it does not quite come down enough to put on even pressure. although it looks like it is flat down and straight, you should feel the df drop when you push the back left corner if this is the issue. If not the case, when you open the DF, the right hinge adjusts the skew screw. just unscrew it out of the small hole and put it into the elliptical hole hole just to the right (may have a cover over it) and adjust it in both directions to see if anything changes.

The Adf scanner lower entrance guide needs to be removed and the 4 mylars needs to be inspected. The mylars are probably bent or worn down, causing your Adf skew issue.

I had the same issue with a MP9001, light on the hinge side of the copy. The client had let the df open many times under its own spring pressure which had lifted the frame where the left hinge was screwed down, I removed the df and the plastic covers and hammered the frame flat again to cure this fault. I think you might find the same fault on your machine from what you've described.

have you cleaned the scanner optics and xenon lamp? dust can cause this problem. is it shifting side to side direction? or just leading edge is shifted? raise the left scanner bar a little bit higher. also you can adjust the df right hinge loosen the screw and move it up or down for image shifts.
