MP 2550 sometimes stops printing when multiple users print at once...

    Hello,
MP 2550 sometimes stops printing when multiple users print at once.
The type of printing is 3-4 page word doc's. and there are only 4 people working in the office so it seems weird that the unit locks up with so little being thrown at it.
If you shut down the copier and turn it back on the print jobs start printing out as if the machine had never been turned off.
All backed up print jobs print and the machine seems to be back to normal.

    LOL...Ideas??

    Thanks,
    Jeff / STL

Is it printing direct to IP or via a server?

Anyway, update the firmware to the latest and greatest and come back afterwards.

Make sure print driver port is set to LPR and Queue name is lp all lower case.
Set to raw print jobs are sent to memory, set to LPR jobs go to print spooler on HDD.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

We've seen similar problems across different brands printing from Windows 7. Make sure the printer port in the driver is not WPD but the actual IP address of the copier.

Ok I do know all PC's are running Windows 7. I was able to go to each PC and do a printer search and it found the copier and installed the drivers.
I then went to each PC and changed the river to reflect all the accy's installed on the copier.
I have very little knowledge of networking. I would think this office is running a server...but I don't know.

" Make sure the printer port in the driver is not WPD but the actual IP address of the copier." I'll try to figure this one out and see what I can find.

"Make sure print driver port is set to LPR and Queue name is lp all lower case.
Set to raw print jobs are sent to memory, set to LPR jobs go to print spooler on HDD." Whats LPR stand for?

I'm an indy tech and been servicing Ricoh family products for 8 years and have never had to update firmware and wouldn't have a clue how to do that. So a firmware update probably isn't going to happen.

This machine is an off-lease purchase, resold to one of my customers I've had for years. It only has 40k on it.

I'll be going back in a couple of days and make some changes and see what happens.

            Thanks
