Replace controller board brother. That's from my memory (running abotr 50% at the moment), I will check my notes tomorrow. Use the EEPROM's from the original too.

If the fuser is warm, it's probably the operation panel. If not, then BICU or Controller

I'll pick up this old thread...
I had this same problem on an old MP 4000B with no add-on options. Replace the controller pwb with one from HyTec using the original NVRAMS. Fixed the problem but had an SC220 come up a couple of times. After resetting the machine and working on cleaning and some PM parts replacements it seemed to work OK for a bit. Now, after working through some sample pages the SC 220 has returned and isn't clearing. According to the service manual this code is indicating a Copy Data Security Unit mismatch or defect. This item is listed as optional and the copier doesn't have it installed. Might it be an artifact left on the rebuilt board I have gotten from HyTec? Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Happy Holidays to all.

i would call hytec and ask their ricoh guy, whose name i forget but he might be able to give you something to check...
I never worked on a mp400b but i think it is very old and might be time to sell a more current machine...
I myself would always try to keep old machines running but now i dont...
I need to make a living so if a machines gets 4-6 years use the customer needs to money up...If thet were dealing wth Ricoh direct that salesman is at the door after 3 years looking to upgrade machine...

We are in full agreement. However, this particular customer is a unique case and our options are limited. I have moved on from this machine and I may have found an acceptable alternative. Thanks for your constructive response.

                              Good luck..
As i see it even the best doctors lose patients,so i no longer try to keep every machine "alive for ever"...
In the end it allows me to get rid of old parts and supplies to make room for more current series....
I swapped out an old 20 yr old b/w and it took me saying that i couldnt find parts no more to do it...
