    Ricoh 2852 Dead

Have a fairly new 2852, less than 20k, which is dead except for the blue light near the power
    button on the control panel.
    Outlet power is okay.
Initial checks point to the power supply but I just wanted to check the forum to see if there were any
simple solutions I might be missing.

Just before you replace the board have you tried to brighten up the screen, I have been to 4 calls were a prankster has dimmed the screen leading me to think the board gone?

Thanks for the tip Chief. I did check that. When turning on the main power switch there is
no warm up rotation or anything else except for the blue light by the power switch.

Checked voltages going into controller and the only reading I could get was on a 5v line which is
          why I suspect the PS.

If the machine is connected to a network check the web image monitor for any codes or messages. That has helped me in that sort of situation.

Had a similar situation on a MPC2000, check the IOB-BCU flat cable connection. Make sure it is fixed on the controller.

I encountered the same problem in this model with only 60k copies. I replaced the controller board and the machine worked fine.

I know on the newer machines you must unlug the machine from the wall for 15 minutes or so for the psu to reset

Looks like a known board issue with this model. We recieved instructions from MR Ricoh to change the controller and or IPU Boards of any the MP 2352/2852/3352SP next service call (Ive only one in the field)

                      Serial numbers affected

Thanks for all the tips. Turned out that it was a bad controller bd.

                          @Neergish

Are you getting re-imbursed for the boards? Or does Ricoh expect you to pay for them? We are also experiencing this sort of failures on machines that are (in one instance) a week old!

We were sent one of each board free to cover the one possibly affected machine we have in the field, although I think the machine has since been moved out of our area, so now they will probably sit in my part shelves gathering dust.

According to the rework noticed RRN 0004 issued by Australian national tech support
Please replace the controller and/or IPU board during next visit or on failure.
Ricoh Japan has agreed to provide replacement boards free of charge for the affected machines listed above.
Due to insufficient stock Ricoh Australia will provide dealers and branches with an initial stock to cover a percentage of the machines in the field (MIF). We expect to deliver the replacement parts within 2 or 3 shipments to cover all affected MIF.
In addition Ricoh Japan has offered a nominal payment to cover labour cost.

So ricoh should cover you, call your tech support and badger them.
