    [CQ] MPC5000 Poor Fixing

    [Problem]
When doing Copy/Print mode 100% solid images.

I have a couple of MPC5000 machines that sit in small airconditioned rooms.
When the machine/s sits idle for about 5-10 mins the first 2-3 papers do not fix properly at the (machine) rear side of the copy.
The very rear corner of the copy peels off. All other pages thereafter in the same print-job fix to the paper quite find.
Its's obvious the machine is not reaching fixing temperature at the require time. I have spoken to Ricoh Tech support and there is no obvious solution to them.

SP 1105 settings all look fine, as per the manual.
SP 1106 temperatures are all in range.

    [Solution]
I have tried adjusting the fuser temperatures but it causes further problems when duplexing.

The best I can do is a fugde fix on the above fuser temperature settings, but I'm not happy as it is not a 100% fix.
I leaning towards replacing the machine ambient temperature sensor ?

I know about the Ricoh bulletins with the IH mods ect. I don't feel this problem is relavant.

    Any ideas appreciated....

You may find that the top couple of sheets of paper are quite cool/cold from the air-con. An easy way to check would be to split the stack and turn the top layer over, then print job and see what you get.
Also, do younmean 100% page coverage? If so, I'd always advise the users to set the paper type to thick 1 or 2 under the driver settings, depending on how much coverage there is.
You might want to investigate tray heaters, not sure if this model has them or not. Where I am the temperature is quite moderate, so no need for them.

MPC5000's aren't built for doing heavy solids, the fuser just can't cope. You need either an MPC7501 (urgh) or a ProC751 to do this reliably.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.
