Hi all we have tried to add a double sided document to the built in document server so that when we sected it to print it prints as duplex automatically, now we have done this in the past and it works fine but for the life of us we can not save it correctly again, it will save it as two pages and unless we select it and then select duplex it wont print it as a double side page, can any point me in the right direction please ?

Document Server always stores as single sided, changes for output style (staple, duplex, top-top or top-bottom, etc)are made at the print screen. Maybe your past experience with auto duplex was because the default print screen for the doc server was set with duplex highlighted? Haven't tried it and not sure it can be done but try selecting the print screen, select 2 sided and save as default using the Program key. Might also be tied to having the copy function set to default 2 sided (again, just guessing). -
Re: ricoh C2050 saving a double sided document to the document server help please
Thanks for the reply teebee1234 , I will check on Monday to see if you are right, but we are not that technical in the office for us to have done what you think might be the answer and besides i am sure that the prints are not going through the duplex every time as it takes a lot longer printing duplex,
I am sure we wouldn’t have done anything other than stick the doc in and saved it, we have multi sheets saved as double side as they are electrical test certificates we hand out to our engineers, its only as they have changed certificates we are trying to update them on the copier, it was over 2 years ago we last saved them as double sided and were able to print duplex since then.
We had a fault on the machine yesterday and I asked the service engineer if he could show me and he tried for ages and wasn’t able to do it, he then went back to his office and asked someone who has worked on these machines for ages and he said "no my machine cannot save a document as double side and then printed duplex" even when the guy who serviced the machine was able to confirm he had seen it printing auto duplex from my saved document with out having to select duplex before printing, go figure lol
In the doc server screen, set the original type to double sided. You can also combine documents and change the order in the print sceen when re-printing.Comment

Re: ricoh C2050 saving a double sided document to the document server help please
BryanH...with all due respect to you, it should be your service tech / Company that is here trying to find the answer to your question, and become more informed. The fact that the tech can't figure it out on the screen, and his superior (that apparently has years of experience) says it can't be done, tells me that they are not very resourceful, honest, or interested in finding you a solution. They sound to me like a company that's more interested in getting paid than finding solutions, and customer service.
If they'll mislead you about something as silly as this, what about on the maintenance side of things?
It absolutely can be done.
Here's a link to the reference manuals. Check out the copy and Document server reference. You should find the necessary settings without much difficulty.

To clarify my post, when you scan in duplexed originals (using the 2 sided original setting as original type), it is stored as single pages - not its original 2 sided style. The output style is determined when you print them out and select 2sided from the print screen. The only way it can "auto duplex" when you print it without any intervention is if the 2 sided is default highlighted from the print screen, same as on the Copy function.Last edited by teebee1234; 10-01-2012, 01:23 AM.Comment

Re: ricoh C2050 saving a double sided document to the document server help please
Teebee we have loads of docs single and double sided saved in the document server and for sure when we print the single sided it only go's through the machine once its very clear when it go's duplex as it has to pass through twice and we for sure dont press the print double side button when printing the double side document that prints duplex automatically once selected and the print button pressed.
I am going to work in few minutes and will check out the things you said about to see if it can point us in the right direction, and will report back here with the results
Thanks for helping to far M8Comment

Re: ricoh C2050 saving a double sided document to the document server help please
Just a update to this post.
What I have found out is if after saving it, if i then go to the print screen after selecting the document then select duplex and print, any printing after thay first time is automatcally duplexed everytime, it remembers what i selected the last time it once printed.Comment
