Hi! I have a problem with MP 2000. The machine dispenses toner to the drum with every copy what makes all prints dirty on both sides. This happens on every drum unit so I think the dev sensor is ok. If the new firmware could help?

how can you say that the toner cartridge is turning continuously? most probably the toner is not genuine or the PM life of the parts is affecting the copy quality.

I agree with 'rsyarcia'
If you're not using Oem toner, Drum, and Dev (at minimum). You need to install them first.
If Drum and Dev are Oem, and it's generic toner only, then you still need to replace the dev, vacuum out the cleaning/recycling section, and be sure to dis-assemble the toner hopper, and vacuum out ALL remaining generic toner

Just perform PM. Even with the front cover open, you can't tell if the toner bottle is turning. If the copies are dirty on both sides, replace drum, developer, charge roller, brush roller, cleaning blade. And make sure you're using the original toner, like Sandmanmac says.

I performed PM and intialized developer. All parts are new and OEM. It was alright for a dozen copies.I see bottle is truning in each copy because i removed cover of machine. Now the toner is overdosed wich causes dirty prints.

The bottle is turning a lot of times. The machine calculates the amount of toner to be fed into the development unit by pixel count and by the value of the TD-sensor and the ID-sensor. If the PCU is overtoned, then the TD-sensor might be defective. Then you should replace the whole development unit and replace the developer (Type 28).

Can we back up to the beginning?
When did this all come about? Was the machine up and running fine, and then started doing this out of the blue? Or Did it require a service for other reasons, and then started giving you trouble afterward? (and you say all parts are OEM. Does that included toner?)

Every 200,000 I replace the toner supply unit and vac out the machine...it also gets a new pcu and dev added(if needed).
The hopper unit is only good for 200k....dirty pieces of crap they be.

I just replace the foam 'slider assy' in the hopper units when they start to get messy, and they're like new again. I keep a couple of 'repaired' hoppers on the shelf, and swap them in when necessary.
P/N is the same for type 2120D hoppers too, so inventory is simple

I've had this problem with ricoh toner and low life parts, I found the NVRAM wasn't holding VSP/VSG values, they were 0v & 5v so the bottle just keeps turning. I replaced the bicu and id sensor and the fault returned, after replacing the Bicu NVRAM the fault went away.

The machine worked for a year fine.

I took the drum unit and toner from another machine. Dozens of copies was fine and the problem has returned.
I put a new drum unit and a new toner and again the same thing.
The cover is removed so I can see how every time a bottle is spinning.

I would replace the I/O pcb first they used to blow a chip stoping the bottle from turning on the old adam machine.

If you have another machine you can use for parts swap the IO and the toner bottle motor as a pair.

i am ressurecting this thread from the dead cause i got the same problem with a customer. i am toshiba oki konica certified but not ricoh so i dont got too much experience with ricoh's mumbo jumbo. same printing in front and back, changed whole image unit had the same efects. then replaced on the new psu the developer run fine for some hundreds then the same. looking at the drum i see dev-toner on it. when i turn it manualy out of the dev unit it cleans. if i put on the machine i see dev-toner on the drum all time. any help?
