    Ricoh 2045 Negative Ghosting

alright this is driving me nuts ill try to describe the problem fully as it is a bit of a weird duck.

so page 1~10 usually fine anything after that and it get a inverted / negative image
(white areas are reprinted black (well shaded too) and black areas are white)
but around the current pages black areas it has a small border of white even in solid black areas

now if i reset charge bias to 1650+ it goes away for a little while then its back (bias also comes back down to 1530)
after a lot of messing with it i noticed that any delay after the 8th page and the negative image never appears
so i went to the process setting sp 3002(i think) and set the fuser cleaning cycle to 8 pages and bam ran a 250pg
job with zero negative ghosting so.....

what am i missing ???? i know its a charge problem and i have 2 machines doing the same thing now same cure too but i dont
like it because its just masking a bigger problem

    parts tried so far
    different drum cartridge
    different dv unit
rebuilt drum cartridge (drum, blade, charge roller, cleaned the rest to like new)
have not tried a transfer belt yes since i don't have a spare one and frankly I am tired of throwing parts at it

if you guys need more details just let me know what and ill do my best to get the info up here

ok ill have to get one posted monday unless i can find one

found one from the not as bad machine and its all the better i can scan it with this equipment

the image is skewed because i just layed a bunch of sheets over the glass and was using it as a workspace i could copy off without moving everything. the other copier that is doing this is a 1/4 page sized sploch

It may be worth checking the drum earth, there is a bracket at the rear that gives the drum the earthing, it can easily be left off if someone has been in the back of the machine, it is a funny shape to it..

        Hope this helps

Just seen the picture, that dosent look like an inverted image from the pic, it almost looks like charge roller bushings issues.

i don't have one i pulled that out of the recycle bin im going to have to go back out to customers machine and get some samples
but i does it on all of the pages that machine does it in a 1/4 inch wide stripe in the direction of copy the other one is a huge spot about 1/4 page

as you can sorta see on that its repeating the lines from a previous copy but inverted

              Ran into this before.
Reseat and clean contacts with a pencil eraser on the memory chips, then and run 100 copies of the same image.
If it returns replace laser unit.

It is reading and rewriting the same image down the page.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

This is most likely a transfer unit issue!!!

I agree, we had a similar issue with negative ghosting and it was the transfer belt unit. In fact, now that looked closely at your samples it is exactly the problem we had that cost us a 2090 customer. check the TB drive gear. A tech had installed a rebuilt TB unit during a PM and it was not the right unit, the drive gear was different.

am trying to remember a bulletin for fusing offset - remove the fuser cleaner roll, check the earth brush on the hot roller, clean any filters and thermistors. Toner can move from the cleaner back to the hot rollers. non gen toner would explain 2 machines
