    MPC 2051 sc-899 & no function !!!

    Hi there!
    Nice "little" problem: installed a new MPC 2051 for a customer all, all runnung good. 2 days before delivering my fellow installed a fax-option. After switching on, the following things happend: no noise at all, "please wait", red led turning on, 5x peeping and then nothing for 8 minutes. Then sc-899 apears. No way to get into servicemode or installing firmware. Removing the fax-option all the same. We unpacked another machine installed it, test it OK. Fax-unit in the new one OK. Then we change every board: 1st machine no go, 2nd machine with boards, HDD, etc of the not-running machine OK!!!! After hours of testing & checking the boss said let it be, and is now calling a serviceman from Ricoh directly. We will see what happens & i report back.

          Sounds like a wire got snipped or a connector got unseated - this is probably stupid because you probably already did this, but reseat the connectors near the controller box. If it is a cut or smashed wire, hopefully you'll be able to see it.
          Also, while this was more of a problem with older Risos, you might check the cable wraps in case they are too tight.

                  Hi There!
                  Today was the day! My colegue & the Tech from Ricoh spent 6 hours at this POS, there was no way to get it work again! Tried out all, changing motors, cutting cable-clamps.... End of all: the machine goes back to RICOH.

                      I realise this is a bit late, but my be of use in the future. I believe if the fax unit has a jumper for the battery, (all the one I have come across do) Forgetting to move the jumper will cause this issue. There are also firmware update listing updates for SC899 issues.

                          Good call! Also, make sure all of the connections on the fax unit are properly seated, I had one that wasn't on a new setup that caused error codes.
