urgent question about sd card to update firmware

hi to all,

i have one 3025 and is giving me sc820 but first thing i want to do is update the firmwarbut only problem is i dont have the sd card... i have one sd card (printer) that comes with machine and i really dont need it so i need to know if i can format this card and use to update the firmware of the machine becouse i really cant find small sd cards here. this one have around 30mb.

do not format the print sd card.
go get an sd card and use it, as you may need the print option in the future.

Not sure but what do you have to lose? Format the card, dump the file onto it and try it. Assuming of course that you will never need the printer card in the future. Once formatted you can't go back.

I have formatted and use an old PS3 card for firmware updates. It is 122M formatted and works great. I used the Panasonic formatter software that Ricoh recommends.

A larger SD card up to at least 1Gb shouldn't be a problem to use. The 30 Mb card you're talking about is a waste, because it's not enough space to handle the complete firmware of this, or other machines. Also as mentioned, you may find that you do need the print card later.

Actually, you could copy the files from the SD card you have now onto your computer in a folder named "Printer", then delete them from the SD card, then copy whatever you need to that SD card and then delete files off the card when that firmware was installed so you can copy more firmware files to the card. It is a bit more work, and you need to have all the firmware available on your computer, but you only need one SD card of any size to do this.

Don't tamper with the print sd card. Buy an sd card of 1 gig or less(Ricoh reccomends 512 MB). and use that card. I've seen Bad things happen when you mess with the factory cards. A 1 gig card is about 5$'s on ebay.

I'm with Toner bomb on this. Dont f around for 5 bucks. When I get a machine in with the App2Me card. I keep it and use if for firmware. Also replace the "other function" button with a blank one. Saves a lot of questions, that I cant answer and gives me plenty of SDs.
