Ricoh 2238C Light Area at the top of the copy or print...HELP!

I have a probelm with this machine that I can't seem to solve.

I have replaced the toner clutch, developer unit and the PCU. I have also cleaned the toner pump and still have yet to find a solution.

My next thought was to clean the laser optics....

The customer has been using generic toner from Precision Roller and the toner has worked well in the past...

(The dots at the top of the page in the pdf attachment are from the scanner as there are no "dots" on the actual print...just a gray area).

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

    Hi there!
Seems to be little dust on the edges of the polygonmotor-mirror. Open the PH and carefully clean then octagonmirrorhead, then try again. Had this problem often in car-workshops.
    Greetings...

I checked the mirror and it didn't seem to be very dirty...but, after I removed the complete laser optics housing, the filth was unbelivable...lots of dust and old toner...

I cleaned the four slit glass areas, (they were caked with old toner), wiped out the machine and it's running much better now...

It took me about three hours for the project, but not really too bad.

Once again, many, many thanks for your help!

          Best regards,
