I believe he's trying to say that the machine is not reading the tandem tray. Instead, it's reading it as tray 3 and 4. Although I have no solution

Tullio, are you trying to troll us? I thought I recognized this question and found that you asked the exact same thing with the same pictures for an MPC6501 HERE in March and again in July HERE. Now you're asking on a b/w model with a color mfp display. Please enlighten us to what you are trying to accomplish...

*in any case, if sp5-959-001 is set to anything other than a value of '0' (A4) or '1' (LT) then tray 1 will display as a single tray instead of tandem.

I guess that I don't really have an answer but do have a question. How have you managed to get the same problem on 2 different models? Did you do a memory clear at some point or at what point did this issue show up? I am of the opinion this didn't occur on it's own but after some sort of service work was done, we're not getting the whole story.
At this point I would suggest using the mfp birth certificate and compare all of the SP values, you might find something out of specs.

*FYI, Tray 1 is the tandem tray and Tray 4 should be the LCT.
