    Ricoh Aficio 350/1035

Can one of the causes of an SC350 be due to the age of the drum? Any help appreciated, thank you.

    Not in my experience.
Why? Have you exhausted all the other options?
ID Sensor, Dev, TD Sensor, BICU, HVU, NVRam, etc?

Definitely, I'd always change the BICU before a drum.

350 C ID sensor pattern test error
One of the following ID sensor
        output voltages was detected twice
        consecutively when checking the ID
        sensor pattern.
        1) Vsp ≥ 2.5V
        2) Vsg ≤ 2.5V
        3) Vsp = 0V
        4) Vsg = 0V
        ID sensor defective
        ID sensor connector defective
        Poor ID sensor connector connection
        I/O board (IOB) defective
        High voltage supply board defective
        ID sensor dirty
Defect at ID sensor pattern writing area
        of the drum

Funny, I don't see BICU or NV ram in the troubleshooting sections.

Open the right cover and cheat the door. The warmup will run the ID patch.
Pull the door cheat when you see the patch. If it is a solid black square, check the ID sensor circuit. If it is grey, check DV unit. If there is background on the drum with the patch, check DV unit and charge roller.

Remember to run the developer initialization and id sensor intialization after a new drum.(Not TD initial).
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

nmfaxman is right on. when I see this these old machines, they are usually pigs (ie extremly dirty inside, drum unit dev unit ect.) clean the pig and see what it needs!!!!! You can also see SC990's !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not in my experience also. normally i just check if the toner flows properly from the toner bottle to to the dv unit and do 2801 and 3001. i encountered sc990 for aged drum.

Can you get a copy out of it?

If so what's the quality like?

If the quality is poor (background/lines/faint) and the drum has done more than 150k (in my experience the OEM drums don't last much longer than this anyhow, third party drums even less so) and the dev any more than 300k then chances are it needs a drum & dev anyhow.

Check also that the mag roller on the dev unit hasn't got a layer of toner film, it should be shiny aluminium when you push the dev aside, the 1035 used to be a pain for this (not as bad as the MP4500/MP4000/MP5000 but still was an issue) and also check that the dev unit itself turns freely and that there isn't a ton of toner/dev in the workings when you remove the gear cover on the front.

Otherwise check the ID sensor itself hasn't got coated in toner, then follow the procedure nmfaxman posted.

determine your question sc350 in aficio 350 ther is 350-001/and 350-002/350-003 differs from aficio 1035 and causes id sensor-and toner recycling didn't reach to tank.

Yes, it can...first rebuild drum unit, change developer and clean ID sensor..go from there.
