[Error Code] Newbie: Have manual - Can't clear Replace Transfer Belt error on Ricoh CL3500

I will chalk this up as like the 60th forum I have registered for in my life to get the answer I need for a google search that came up dry.

I am a printer/copier tech and have been for 13+ years. The company I work for has several Ricoh CL3500's and I have become the guy that takes care of issues beyond the norm. I have a "Replace Transfer Belt" error. We have replaced it but the manual says to "Hold down [Escape] key for at five seconds. The message disappears and a maintenance reset is automatically performed.".

I cannot get it to respond. I even tried several combinations of 2 or 3 buttons and I cannot reset the error.

    Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Are you sure you have the right manual?
    Reset Maintenance alert message
    1. Press the Menu key.
    2. Scroll until Maintenance appears on the display screen and press Enter
    3. Scroll until Maint. Reset appears on the display screen and press Enter again.
    4. Scroll keys until the disputed part appears on the display screen:
      • Fusing unit as in the example OR
      • Transfer Belt (Intermediate transfer unit)

      and press Enter.
    5. Once the "Press # to reset" message appears, press it and wait for five seconds.
    6. Press the Online key.

I think I tried this but I will again.

      Thanks!

I tried this and it still has no response. It's like its locked up. Is there some sort of reset like a battery or something?

Hmm.. that is strange indeed. I generally only work on the copier side of Ricoh, and have never actually laid my hands on one of these printers.
I recommend posting this in the Ricoh (Copier) forum as well. I'm sure you'll have a lot more hits and suggestions.
          P.S.
This is the best forum on the web for advice by a long shot. I think you'll agree once you've been here for a while.
Sorry I can't offer anything else.
          Good Luck.

Try resetting the PM counter in sp mode instead then perhaps Update the Firmware
