    [Error Code] CL3500 [printer] cannot clear a error.

    This is a cross-post from the Fax & Printer technical discussion that I was suggested to post here since I was not getting the answer I need there. HERE is the original post.


    I am a printer/copier tech and have been for 13+ years. The company I work for has several Ricoh CL3500's and I have become the guy that takes care of issues beyond the norm. I have a "Replace Transfer Belt" error and do have the service manual for it. We have replaced it but the manual says to "Hold down [Escape] key for at five seconds. The message disappears and a maintenance reset is automatically performed.".


    I cannot get it to respond. I even tried several combinations of 2 or 3 buttons and I cannot reset the error.


    Any ideas?

      have you powered off the machine before replacing the Belt?

      apart from everything else thats the only step you havnt mentioned doing try that if that dosnt work try sp pm counter reset if still no joy its probably a PCB problem.

          To be honest I didn't replace the belt, I am just the guy that goes beyond normal issues. I had to clear this error (or something similar) on one of the other units we have in house.

          So do you suggest turning it off, reseating the transport belt then turning it back on?

              You will need to replace the belt with a new one as it as a fuse on the new one that blows when its replaced I believe.

              Resetting the PM in SP mode may work but never tried it with a Old Transfer Unit worth a try if the tbelts working ok.

                  I took a working Transport belt from another unit, installed in this one with the power off. I am still met with the same issue. I cannot get past the error.

                      wtf why do I bother

                      IF YOU CANT REPLACE IT TRY RESETTING THE PM COUNTER IN SERVICE PROGRAM MODE
