    MPc3500 Wont accept Postscript Card

I have a MPc3500 I just installed this week. While installing the machine the pastor came out and asked if he could print to his Macbook. Doh! Sales guy said nothing about needing the PS card. I returned the next day with a PS Type c4500 card and when installed the machine will no longer load the print and fax option, nor will the PS work. I removed the chip and tried to load firmware and the machine just bypasses the firmware upload and proceeds right to the ready screen. It is the correct B222 firmware. Also I noticed with the firmware SD card in the machine the print and fax option are not loaded.

I went ahead and loaded the current firmware remotely and still same problems.

    Any Ideas? Thanks

As for the Firmware. Did you neglect to put it into a 'romdata' folder? I've gotten ahead of myself on a few occasions, and the results are what you explained.

I double checked that myself when I was on site Romdata>B222>firmware

maybe your sd card is faulty or too big?
did you try a 512 mb card?
Ps.: i have found out, that the sd cards, that are delivered with the new ricoh boxes, containing useless junk are perfect after formatting to load firmware on ricoh boxes

Don't format the SD card to be used to install firmware with Windows disk format. You'll need to download an SD card formatting utility from Panasonic. (After formatting with the Panasonic utility, Windows will still see the card as usual. But Ricoh machines will not accept an SD card formatted any other way.)
Also, if I remember correctly, due to licensing issues with Adobe, a used Postscript SD card may not be usable in a machine that it was not initially installed in. But that could instead be the Java VM card, I'm not sure at the moment. Still, if the customer would buy a new Postscript card that would make this issue a moot point. Or if you used a new Postscript card, kindly ignore this last paragraph.
          Hope that helps.

Before you get an answer please clarify if there were all slots occupied by S card options before you tried to put PS?
Sometimes because there are too many options on the machine - more than available service slots, tech will try to merge apps onto one or another SD. Due to the licensing issue all merges MUST be done onto PS Sd card not the other way. Adobe will not allow you to move PS onto another SD - just will not work.
I would recommend you to go back and refresh what have you done before you were trying to get PS working. May be you were missing something. Also it could be a faulty SD as was mentioned before. It's really hard to tell because there a many questions arise on what may went wrong.

just tried it today on two mpc2500 to be sure: the PS sd card is interchangeble, no problem to move a ps option to another mashine. Maybe it is something sakura said, is it a used ps card? are there other options on it?

It was not a new ps card but I did try it in another machine back at the office and it worked fine. its just odd that even when I try to update firmware that the machine will skip over upgrading and them disable fax and print. It seems whenever a SD card is installed it "freaks" out and doesnt work correctly.

To troubleshoot I used that same SD card with the firmware on it in another MPc3500 in the shop and it loaded firmware no problem and even accepted the ps card.

Im thinking its an issue with the card slots. Im pretty sure we are going to swap the machine for this customer and investigate the issue in house.

Was the NVRAM / Counter chip replaced before the Install?

If so it could just be that the devices need turning back on in sp mode 5-985

                      Hi there!
If the problem only occurs on this special machine, i think your controllerboard may be defective.
                      Greetings...

I second controller problem...i would suggest to change ram against known good one, and, after doing an sp print (5-5990-1) i would try a 5-5801-1 (all memory clear); after that, you have to enter some values manually from the sp print

third party software to print PCL from MAC.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Looks like a good work around but the MPc3500 is not supported.
