    [Misc] MP3351

    Hi Guys.

I have a MP3351 which refuses to show the address book on the display. Everything else works fine and you can scan from the machine as well if you take the long way round. Any suggestions?

You might need to login as Administrator to access the address book.

back up the address book. RE-format the hard drive and then re-install the address book. This should resolve the problem. There is a bulletin on the Ricoh site about this. Installing a new hard drive without following the install procedures will cause this in most circumstances. I have seen it 3 times from techs just putting a hard drive in and booting the machine.

Thanks. What i found out was that the harddrive was replaced and the engineer also did an all clear. What i also saw is that the address book is being set-up via LDAP. Do you think that some setting went out? Another thing is if i manually enter a address it does appear on the screen. Any suggestions?

D017/D018/D019/D020/D084/D085 4-69 SM Replacement and Adjustment 4.9.10 HDD 1. Before you replace the HDD: 􀂃 Stop all SDK applications, and then remove it from the machine if the VM card is installed ( p.2-102 "HDD Encryption Unit"). 􀂃 Insert an SD card in SD card slot 2 (lower slot). 􀂃 Go into the SP mode. 􀂃 Do SP5846 51 to upload the address book data to the SD card. 􀂃 If the HDD is damaged, you may not be able to retrieve this data from the HDD. 2. Remove the controller board. ( p.4-58) 3. Remove the HDD and bracket [A] ( x1) 4. Remove the old HDD [A] from its bracket ( x4, x2). 5. Install the new HDD unit. 6. Cycle the machine power off/on. 7. Format the HDD with SP5832-1. 8. Do SP5853 to copy the preset stamp data from the firmware to the hard disk. 9. Do SP5846-52 to restore the address book data to the HDD.

The engineer that caused this issue should be shot with crap and hung for stinking for not following protocol and THEN leaving you to clean up his mess. Thanks to all you guys!!! I got it right eventually. The clients LDAP server had crashed and it wasn't configured correctly. It was re-configured and the address book is now back! Once again thanks to all of you!
