Ricoh Aficio MP2550 with error code SC817

    [Error Code] Ricoh Aficio MP2550 with error code SC817

    Hello Copytechnet guys,
    Recently in office we got a error message on one of our copy/scan device's screen:

    "Functional problems detected.
    Turn main power switch off then on.
    If the error appears again, please call service.
    SC817
    00FE
    0x00000005"

    Device: Ricoh Aficio MP2550
    What does this error code means? What can i try to solve this problem?

      Goose's Guide says this:

      Boot Loader Error: File or module on the controller board is corrupted
      Boot Loader Error: Reload System Firmware
      Boot Loader Error: Replace Controller board
      re-install firmware or defective SD Card

          If powering off/on doesn't solve the issue, you need a tech. There's No 2 ways about it.

              In my experience this error more often that not means the machine was up to something when the main power was turned off. The only resolution is to change the controller board.
              It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

                      I am a tech, just not the printer-tech

                      Our local Ricoh service tells that we need to change controller board without looking at the device and asks a lot of $ for it. So I decided that I could try something else before changing everything.


                      What is needed to reload firmware? any special hardware?

                          An sd card less than 1gb and the latest firmware files. Unless someone on here is nice enough to send you them including the instructions on how to reflash it, you'll have to get Ricoh in anyway. I don't think it'll fix it though. How come you didn't get a service contract?
