    MP2550 duplex jam

I have an MP2550 that misfeeds at the entrance to t
he duplex unit. Throws a jam count 25 ( junction gate sn:late ) Started out intermittant, now does it every time. Firmware current, everything clean. Thanks in advance for the help.

I should add that, for some strange reason, it will duplex 8.5 11r all day long. Just misfeedsd every time in duplex on 11 x 8.5. Strange days indeed...................................

If you set the paper size to auto detect does it misread the paper size in that particular tray? If so, the side fence position sensor in the back has been knocked out. The usual thing for these on duplex jams is the junction gate actuator being broken, but it wouldn't duplex at all. Is the spring missing from the outside of the junction gate? Is the plastic part the junction gate sits on screwed in with the shouldered screws?

        Re: MP2550 duplex jam

I had one doing this a while back took me forever to figure it. In my case when duplexing the paper was jamming at the duplex entrance, the paper is supposed to feed through the pawls to the right side then back through them again, at first I thought the pawl bar was warped and catching it turned out the timing belt on the rear side of the door was loose so the pawls were not lifting in time for the paper to go under them and they were catching and dragging. once i tighted the belt up it fed properly. Also check the pawl fingers I have had then get a nick in them before and catch paper.

All paper makes it into and out of the inverter. The switchback solenoid works like a champ and the 11x8.5 jams at duplex entrance every time. 11x17, 8.5x14 and 8.5x11r duplexes with no problems. I'm thinking BICU?

If the paper is just stopped then it sounds like its sensor is detecting wrong sized paper, either the tray paper settings are set wrong to the tray, or the auto detect is not working. If you set all paper 11x8.5 in all the trays and test each one does it jam in all of them or only the first one. I am thinking that is the machine where the sensor in the back of the machine falls out of place and it detects paper improperly. If its not then possible the tray guides jump a gear notch on one side or the auto detect isnt working.

In the inverter, the foam that the gate hits wears through and the gate sticks to the glue. The timing of the different paper may give the solinoid the time to pull it off. Similar to the problem with the DF's when the would feed straight out instead of duplex. I usually just put some grease on it to get rid of the problem.
              Just a thought.
