    MPC4500 smudge on edge

    Hi All,

Just wondered if anyone had come across this issue also, I have just refurbished a MPC4500 machine (new pcu/dev, fuser, PTR, cleaning unit) what happens is when you put 120g paper through it smudges the feed edge, doesnt matter if you set it to plain/middle thick/thick 1/thick 2, it always does it, but it doesnt do it on normal 80g stuff. However trying the same thing on a MPC4000 we have here and all is well. This is LEF and only occurs on the feed edge.

The only part not replaced during refurb was the ITB, i tried that in another machine and that didnt produce the fault. All firmware is up to date.

Here is a picture on both 80g and the 120g.

Have you tried moving the fuser entrance guide to the "thick" position?

Take the fuser out, flip it on it's head, take out the two screws from the entrance guide and refit it putting the screws into the previously unused holes.

You have a label or some foreign object jambed up around the cyan CPU case.
Probably sticky tape or something like that. Its dragging against the drum or ITB.

You can also get wax fibre inside brand new PCU units that cause dev voids. I've seen that a few times now.

It ending up being the PTR, although it was new it caused this, looking at it closely it seemed slightly warped. Fitted a known working one and bobs your uncle
