    SMC Report SC History

Probably a very silly question, but here it goes....

On the SMC Report under 7403 SC history. it shows the date , time , and the service code. Sometimes next to the SC there is an * astris.

For the life of me I can not remember what the * astris is indicating? Can someone please "re"school on this?

I think it's a background logged SC, as opposed to one shown on the display.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

The Service Manual mentions 5 types of Service Calls (CTL, A, B, C, D). If it's a C-Type Service Call, then this SC is only logged and not displayed. You can find the type next to the descriptions in the manual.

I thought that the asterisk was for a service code that forced an auto reboot if the machine is set to restart automatically for SCs.

yep you get the dots appearing 1 by 1 untill its reboots. I asked ricoh tech what the star was on a mp7001 a long time ago and thats what they said it was.

That sounds like a resonable meaning.... just wish I could find some kind of documentation to confirm it.

I always thought it was due to an SC code that had not been logged before, i.e. a new problem.

The * means another code occured at the same time. Check the logging data for Sc code history, times and dates and meters will corespond.
