Don't do the auto updates, it can cause more hassle than it's worth. The old saying 'if it ain't broke don't fix it' springs to mind.

Basically, if you have an E7100 at 1.0 with no patches (or only a few), it IS broken. There were some very nasty bugs that the patches corrected.
