    Gestetner 3355 Document Feeder

    Hi,

One of my end users has an old Gestetner 3355 that went down last week. For some reason the document feeder stopped working it seems. I tried the free motor run, and nothing at all. The tray doesn't lift or feed or anything. What could be the most likely problem on this? Or I guess the better question is, where should I start replacing parts and troubleshooting from. The motor, the board?

There are no error codes on the screen. All it says is cannot detect original size or original left on exposure glass.

Thank in advance for your help.

Start by locating and cleaning all the sensors, patches and actuators. Be sure all works properly. The indications you have usually have something to do with a sensor issue. Beyond that, possibly DF main board. It has been a long time since I looked at one of those, so my help is limited.

I would check that power is getting to the document feeder if it's completely dead.
Check FU104 on the PSU has not blown, then failing that I would look towards ADF PCB I think.

Look at the ADF board and see if at least 1 LED is lit.If 100 is blinking then the board is probably OK and I would look at the sensor at the bottom that detects if the ADF has been lifted to reset a copy from the glass.
Aside from that there are two test points for voltage on the ADF board 103 is 12V and 104 is 5V

Check that the doc feeder feed in area has not had a heavy weight on it.

Take off the covers and check the metal frame has not been bent particularly at the front.

Has occured since the very earliest models.

May not be the case if the machine is totaly dead but quite simple to check and rule out just in case.
