MP 3350 scan to email issue

MP 3350 w/ up to date firmware.

machine will hang when scanning to email (as pdf). scan to email works just fine when scanning as JPG/Tiff
Paper runs thru adf, machine displays processing and all functions freeze.
I have reformatted the hard drive and still no go. Any ideas.

I had a very similar issue a while back, although my machine would also go into an SC997 after a few minutes of being "frozen".
The issue was due to a firmware incompatibility between the System/copy and Scanner versions. I know you said it was up to date, but perhaps you missed one of them?

you are correct. i do have the latest scanner firmware, but not the system...(its D020533G. 1.10.)

i dont have the system/copy firmware.
