    mpc3300 with sr3000 booklet finisher

In user mode, tried to change copy output to proof tray (upper tray) and it will not respond. Everything goes to second tray.
Ordered solenoid that controls the gate to upper and lower trays. Am I on the right track?

I doubt it, mc would flag a jam if the paper was passing a sensor not in line with the chosen paper path.

Would it have anything to do with the SC764 error that was cleared previously?

Maybe. Might be best to tell us exactly what happened in the lead up to the current situation. How did you "clear" the 764 error?

FYI I have seen the gate in the mid section broken at the ends before due to rough handling at PJ removal, it is a real pain to replace on this model finisher, however this usualy results in non stop jamming.

Told customer to unplug finisher till I arrived.
I plugged it back in and machine cleared SC itself.
Took covers off finisher to watch operations. Gate, solenoid and motor for proof tray do not run when paper passes through. Nothing broke and no jams just sending paper to second tray.
Puncher & stapling works. Not sure about the booklet mode.
Finisher unplugged, paper is in middle of machine on bridge unit.

Very strange. mc must be directing paper to sort tray, if it was sending it to proof tray and there is a mechanical problem mc would show a timing jam. Im sure you have double checked all output settings in user mode, is "sort" highlighted on op panel?

I would put money on 'Sort' being the default setting.

                      Problem solved.

It was the highlighted sort selection on op. Did not notice this till you guys made aware.

                      Thanks a bunch.
