    MPC6000 - SC542?

    Hey all,

So far I have replaced all thermistors and checked the fuser lamps but this code won't reset.

I have heard resetting the thermostats might help but I'm not sure what this 'entails'?

Could someone explain please? Just a case of throwing it against the wall?!

I do yes, I am checking continuity in the thermostats or the lamps?

Have you tried:Do SP5810 to cancel the SC fusing code?

Yes I have tried SP5810 but the code just returns again and again.

The user was trying to copy on water-proof bloody paper and caused a huge jam in the fuser! I fear something else has blown out during this.

Set multimeter on Ohms and check lamps first...it's fixed resistance and shuld conduct...if not it's broken.
Then check thermistors, there resistance shuld change on your body heath...conect one on miltimeter and heat it with your finger...it shuld increse or decrease resistance.
Check for any fregin objects in fuser conectors male-female (ducktape or something...)
Allso check for thermoswitches if they are..."Loose".
If nothing helps try replacing hot roller,it can wear out over time, especialy "for use" ones...happened to me often to instal "for use" hot roller and get sc 542...made out of diferent materials.
            Hope this help you.

Always visually inspect lamps for damage, you may find that metering a lamp is fine but when inspecting it you notice it is entirely burnt out.

Fault finding 101.... isolate parts in fuser and test with a multimeter.

i listen for the jingles ---- no jingles means you have a popped thermostat. remember to beat the crap out of it to make it jingle again..

I have found the best way (and only way that works for me) to reset a thermostat is to put a blob of blutac onto the surface and pull it off really quickly, works everytime
