    Ricoh MP5000b - SC503 error

This is a weird problem I've ever seen of the tandem tray on a MP4000/5000b model. Product code for the tandem tray is D352 and model #: LCIT PB3050

Symptoms: I resetted SC503 code and it detects there are no papers in the tandem tray. I loaded papers in the tandem tray, it runs fine but when it reach paper end condition, it throws an sc503. Power off and on, the sc go away. if I removed paper out of the tandem tray it detects there are no paper in the tray.

This means that paper end sensor is in working condition why is it only throw an sc503 when it runs out of paper from copying and printing?

Output check lift motor is rising up and down. ***Scratch my head ** any ideas are welcome and appreciated.

here's the parts manual of it

If you're sure that sensors are ok then it could be the Transport Clutch at the back side.

By the way : linking to a PDF-file in a password protected website will not work...

Look at the bottom plate on the feed side. My bet is that it is one tooth higher on the rear lift belt than the front one. When it lowers before the shift, It bottoms out before it hits the tray lowered sensor and codes out.

coptech, you're spot on. I found one tooth on the belt was misaligned.
