MPC6501 / 7501 NVRAM Upload Compatability (values at zero)

Hi all,
I have been given a task to check over an MPC7501 that has been bought in from another copier company for us to re use, i asume we must have got it cheap as it isnt in the best of condition, looking at the general condition of the machine i would assume that the counter has been reset at some point, ive had a look at some of the figures in the smc data and am getting a lot of zeros where i would expect to see values, especially around sp4-680-01 to 4-682-08 where they are all zero, my question is that can i just do a nvram download from another machine and upload it to this one to try and get some decent values put back in the machine or would this cause more trouble than its worth? If this is possible could i download the nvram data from a 6501 and upload to a 7501 without causing to much of a problem?

Unfortunately not. With these SP's you mention being related to factory settings it wouldn't surprise me you have a zero value for them. From the service manual:

When switched on, these SP codes display the settings done at the factory for Red (Green, Blue) O (ODD) and E (EVEN) gain in the ASIC on the SBU after white level adjustment every time the machine is switched on.

If the machine has done over 500k on each colour, especially as it looks like the NVram has been replaced to clear the counters, I'd do a full pm on the machine, rebuilding the PCU's including developer, transfer unit and PTR lube bars, fuser cleaning roller and OSR and vacuum the living piss out of it. Then you have a good, clean machine that can be set up correctly ready to annoy it's new owner!
