[Misc] aficio mpc 2500 with a noise

I have a MPC 2500 with a clicking noise coming from the machien. It sounds like a machine gun. It will stop, but then return. I first thought it was the waste toner auger not turning. I found it had toner rocks in it and had broken the coil. So I replaced it. The customer called back with same noise, I ran auto calibration and saw the Magenta was skipping, like the blade had flipped. So I replaced the PCU and tested. Well, they called back 2 weeks later. Same noise. Any ideas??

If you go into Service Mode you can access Output Check (SP5-804, off the top of my head), go down the list for different motors in the different sections of the machine to find the fault.

Try to locate the noise , check : fusing , paper exit and duplex unit ( duplex unit just unplug it).But like i said , try to locate from where the sound comes.

when you replaced the waste toner auger and PCU does the noise issue solved? you can use output check as ruben said..

Lubricate the pressure roller bearings, 99.99% sure that this is the cause.

I opened the left door and cheated the switch when I originally arrived and heard the noise as soon as the transfer belt turned on. I removed the belt assy and the belt moved fine on it's own, no resistance. Then I removed the drums and toner dumped out and that is when I inpsected the waste toner auger. After replacing that, the noise went away for a day, then returned. That's when I did the auto calibration and found the PCU skipping. Tested after that, just fine. Ever had a drum or dev unit bind up on you?

Like I said in my previous post, I'm almost 100% sure the pressure roller bearings are the cause. They run dry and cause that clicking sound. It can disappear when you run a few hundred pages. The fusing unit cools down, and when it warms up you'll hear that clicking sound again.

Only ever seen one broken auger, and this was caused by a tech fitting a MPC5000 waste bottle which can be made to fit - but the sensor doesnt line up so full waste bottle never triggered. As for the noise it may be the start of failing drive gears in the main drive unit. I am becoming an expert in replacing this assy on this range of machines. What are the bw and colour meters?
