RICOH Aficio MP 6000 scan to folder issues

    Hello,

I have configured an MP 6000 to scan to folder using smb however when the document appears on the share, the file is 0 bytes. The scanner then tries to send the document again twice a total of 3 times with the same results. When logging into the web interface of the scanner and reviewing the network logs i see the following :

#[smb client(531)]13/01/24 14:27:33 SMBC: failed to write file (08212:0x2100002) ERR: #[smb client(531)]13/01/24 14:27:33 SMBC: failed to close file (06102:0x2100004) ERR: #[smb client(531)]13/01/24 14:27:33 SMBC: failed to delete file (09102:0x2100004) ERR:

I have tried scanning to shares on Windows XP, 7, 2003, and 2008 R2 all with the same results. Any help would be appreciated.

What steps have you taken to set up scan to folder? Have you tried a cross-over connection with a single PC and tried scanning to a simple shared folder on that?

I have setup the share permissions according to Ricoh's specs. The firewall rules in place allow all traffic from the scanner to the network share to eliminate any port exceptions being the issue. The files do appear in the share except they don't have any data in them. A test with a crossover cable to a windows 7 machine has been done and the test was successful.

As you can see in the attached screenshot, the file names appear but the complete transaction fails hence the SMBC errors in the ricoh logs.

Are you using LDAP for login details or entering them manually?

A successful transfer rules out the copier. A possibility I am thinking is that the current login has the correct permissions to create the file, but not to send and receive through SMB. However my guess-work ends here. Try to use a simple login, if possible and not already.

            Manually, it's a local account.

If a direct connection works, the only other possibility I can think of is a router or server firewall blocking the SMB protocol.

server 2011/12 has this issue . It is to do with permissions for login.no fix yet sooncome

Also have seen this on other OS when connection is slow or lost. Try constant ping to see if it drops occasionally.

It's all in the user manual. Set the file type to PDF either multipage or single page, then press the Program Key bat157s.gif and Program as Defaults.

See: Changing the Default Functions of the Scanner's Initial Display

I have read a lot all manuals.
You are wrong thinking I am posting something which is in manual
on other thread you put a gif which I know by heart

Question is nor about "DEFAULT FILE TYPE"
Question is to get rid of TIFF as an option altogether

This is a request from company owner, If I tell him this is impossible by design I need to make sure I am no lying

So please tell me (you must be knowledgeable) is this technically possible to hide , remove disable get rid of TIFF option altogether

                      Many thanks

Not possible, it is a feature of the machine. They will have to look into blocking it on the server side and re-train the users to not change the file type.

You can set the default mode to Full Colour, which will scan all documents as JPEG including B&W.

If it is possible, it would through a Custom Firmware. You would have to contact Ricoh and request the modified(custom) firmware. Be aware, there will most likely be a charge to customize the firmware. The charge could be substantial and Ricoh would probably want at least partial payment in advance.
