Have Sc 878 -01 code(USB flash error) on MPC 305 SPF.Will not let me do anything ,cant do firmware,just " please wait "forever and throws a code after couple of minutes .Machine is almost new ,like 3k copies .Hard to believe controller board is defective but that's my next step . Any help is appreciated.... Thanks

According to Ricoh Knowledgebase:
USB Flash Error File system in the USB flash device is defective. - Cannot mount partition 3 in the USB flash device.
- Encryption key does not exist.
- Cannot find the file for KMMD to be operated.
- Replace the controller board.
I am getting worried seeing the short time between first time install and failures on electronic boards on the current range of Ricoh MFPs! I have had an MPC300 die on setup (new controller was ordered to repair it!), MP2352 controller died 15 days after install at customer.... the list is growing!
Another franchise had a MP301 controller die when they installed the HDD option! What next??Press the GREEN button!!Comment

The controller board, at a guess. Well, it's not really a guess as such, he said that it was the controller board.
Personally I've had no board faults on any of the latest models.Comment
